Mad Gardening Skills

I have had so much fun in my garden this year.  I guess I got a little bit of a green thumb from my dad who loves to garden.  (Jared insisted I posed for an action shot!)  Here are my tomatoes at the beginning of the season.
Here they are mid-season.  My dad might have helped a little in stringing them up.  He's got the system down.  I ended up with a lot of tomatoes.
I even got ambitious and canned some salsa.  By the end, I decided that would be the one and only time I canned salsa!  However, a friend of mine told me about a salsa mix you can buy and you only have to add fresh tomatoes.  So I tried that one too and it was good!  I even taught my young women how to make it!  This is me and my friend Stephanie making salsa the hard way the first time.

While I was in the canning mood, I also did a whole bunch of beans. Some were from my little garden, but I'll be honest, most were from my dad's. You should note that most of this happened BEFORE school started!  Now that school is back in, I don't seem to have much time for anything and my garden is suffering!

Here's the embarrassing part.  You know how EVERYONE can grow zucchini?  My zucchini didn't grow!!!  I guess I planted it too deep so it took forever to sprout and is now just coming on.  Luckily for me the zucchini fairy left a whole bunch on my front porch!

In fact, it was so readily available, I was looking for creative ways to use it.  Our favorite so far?  Zucchini pizza!  It's seriously good!

I really love working outside in the garden and in the yard.  The produce is nice too!

Crazy Jared

As I've been looking through all of our old pictures, I've come across a few pictures of Jared being goofy... I know, big surprise!  He takes time to warm up, and he usually only acts this way around family or close friends, but don't get him started! (He's going to kill me when he sees this post!)
Trying on my brother's new Christmas present.

So excited about his new bike he's still in his church clothes.

Staying warm!

What we call "Scope Nose" after some target practice.

Seeing who's farthest along.

Scrubbing the carpet after coming in with poop on his shoes. (Hey, at least he cleans up after himself!)

Wearing the wig I bought for myself for Halloween.

The day he let his sisters do his hair.

On his bike again (the same day).  He calls Sundays "Black Sock Sundays" and says it's okay to wear black socks and shorts.  Don't worry, I don't let him out of the house that way!

Drinking a little hot chocolate!
Dancing with the cat!
You're probably worried, but you don't know the half of it.  This is just the tip of the iceburg!  He is so much fun!

Our House

This is our house. We've lived here for 2 1/2 years.  It was my grandmother's house and I grew up next door, so I've got a lot of great memories here.  It is an old house, which gets annoying sometimes, but the yard is awesome.  We've got 3/4 of an acre, and we love it in the summertime.

This back deck is my favorite spot in (outside of) the whole house.  I love to go out there on summer mornings and eat breakfast and read a book.  It's so peaceful.
We've been slowly remodeling as we can.  Here's the bathroom when we moved in and after I gave it a little facelift.
There was a lot of grandma wallpaper that had to come down.  Here's one of those projects.  Yes, I painted the wall PURPLE and I love it!  (I was a little unsure at first!)

We hope to have the upstairs remodeled in the next couple of years.  We've had some adventures as we've gone along... more to come!

Welcome!

Here goes our new blog.  Sadly, I deleted the old one, so it will take a while to build up some posts.  Please be patient while I try to re-create some of our favorite moments from the past four years of blogging!
